Beekeeping is in Mohammed Ibrahim’s roots. A second-generation beekeeper, he started Buzzu to teach people who want to learn the fine art of beekeeping. Through his business, he wants to promote responsible beekeeping, support healthy bee populations and raise awareness of the vital role pollinators play, becoming a true bee champion.

Turning that passion into a business came with plenty of unknowns. Mohammed needed guidance on best practices, along with legal and financial support, and gaining traction was difficult.

That’s where Sonoma SBDC came in. Legal and financial advising helped Mohammed gain traction and momentum. “My advisor guided me through the financials, billing, and pricing for my business, helping me gain better traction and operate more efficiently,” he said.

Mohammed encourages other entrepreneurs to do the same. “The SBDC team and their advisors are incredible resources for any new business owner, no matter the field. Their expertise and guidance made the process of launching my business far less overwhelming. I highly recommend that any new entrepreneur connect with the SBDC.”

Today, Mohammed continues to teach the craft of beekeeping to those eager to learn it.
