Galvan Engineering wanted to become Small Business (SB) certified in order to compete for state contracts. After submitting their online application, however, the business did not receive the instant approval they expected.
During a screen-sharing session to explore contracting opportunities, owner Ricardo Galvan and support staff discovered that critical documents — the FEIN letter and DE 9C form — were missing from the application.
Ricardo quickly partnered with the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (OCIE SBDC) and the Office of Small Business and DVBE Services (OSDS) to address the gaps. Together, they corrected the errors, updated business activity codes, and finalized the application.
“The guidance from SBDC and OSDS made all the difference. What felt overwhelming at first was resolved in just one day — and now we’re ready to pursue new opportunities,” shared Ricardo.
Incredibly, Galvan Engineering completed the entire certification process within a single business day. Today, the company is actively seeking contracts with the State of California and looks forward to participating in training sessions that will help them build on their success.
